Hello Readers! We are starting a new monthly article where every member of SuperOK discusses how they feel about some of the games they are currently playing. Let’s jump right in!
Clay:
I have played more stuff in the past couple of weeks because of my recent mobile gaming kick. I’ll list my stuff played below because it will keep me from rambling too much. Galaxy Trucker: Hoo boy, what a game this thing is! I absolutely love the board game version, and this mobile re-creation is a love letter to fans like me. It is genuinely hilarious, has a wonderful tutorial, plenty of content for the cost, and even has Multiplayer options to boot. I have spent way too much time playing this instead of going to sleep; I just lay down at night and pop this open and think, “I’ll play one or two” and then all of a sudden it’s time for me to go to work. Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker! It is so close! Lots of leveling alt classes, selling stuff to make money (I’m close to 10 million gil, which isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but I’m pumped about it), and obtaining relic weapons while I wait. That Paladin relic weapon. I can’t stop staring at it.

Storybook Brawl: Holy god damn I am bad at this game, but I love it. The new changes made me worse at it, but whatever. I have only ever won a single time, which could be cause for embarrassment but I’m too busy trying to make Puff Puffs work as Dwarves keep shoving gold up my ass, all while Snow White cackles in the background. I love this game in spite of my own inadequacies while playing it, which is a testament to its greatness. Now out of my way; I have a Puff Puff army waiting. To die, probably...but they are waiting for me nonetheless!
Holy god damn I am bad at this game, but I love it.
Slay the Spire: The tried and true for me. I did one run last week and killed the heart with a simple 14 card deck and only a small amount of relics. Link to the deck here if you care: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1D1xqpnHm9ol78bHiGEKtvXdgRuZRXHKro42QW39Ow0Q/edit This deck was nasty: ~ All I had was block cards aside from my Body Slams ~ Horn Cleat let me be risky on turn one because of its added block on turn two. The only dadamage I regularly took was on the opening turn if I just went Power Card heavy. ~ Mummified Hand is normally a very mediocre relic, but it worked wonders for me here: - It made playing Metallicize/Demon Form/Barricade so much better. Since I had four power car cards in a small deck, I was often bouncing the free cost from one power card to the next. - It was wonderful insurance whenever I didn’t draw Seeing Red and Demon Form on the samsame turn. I very rarely ever had to discard Demon Form, which is amazing.
- I never discard Ghostly Armor because of all the free cost pings. Not once. *chefs kiss* ~ Seeing Red gave me energy to play Demon Form, which is typically very hard to make work. Again, though, Mummified Hand made it easier to play as well. But even during fights where I didn’t need more energy, I could just use it to thin out my already ridiculously small deck. ~ Due to Barricade being easy to play, my block was always sufficient. ~ Body Slam was ridiculous because it was constantly getting more powerful from Demon Form. I was also cycling through less than 10 cards after using up my Power cards and Seeing Red, so they came up all the damn time. And when they didn’t? Shrug It Off, baby, and draw one card while increasing your block by fucking eleven. If I had drawn an Entrench during this run, I think the game would have banned me from playing it ever again. I had nearly every card I wanted by the end of the first leg of the run, which means I just had amazing RNG - especially when you consider the relics I found. Without those relics I doubt this deck would have worked nearly as well as it did. I took Barricade after my first fight and just went for it. Suffice to say, it worked out and the Heart stood no chance. I ended with no damage taken during that fight (It wastes a turn by giving you clutter, allowing me to set everything up and just hoard block) and my final Body Slam was doing 100+ damage. It was great. And that’s it from me! Now I need to go back to Eorzea and visit Idyllshire so I can buy more Umbrite so I can get my Heavensward Bard Relic…
Gannon:
Final Fantasy XIV: I am writing this while going through the worst detox of my existence. I brought my laptop to Michigan for the sole purpose of leveling my crafters and gatherers to 80 before the big day. Daddy needs to chase the dragon and get his high before Endwalker.

Final Fantasy IX: I’m so close to the end of this game for the first time. I have enjoyed the story but have found the combat to be a little dated for me. The lead-ins and summon animations feel long enough to play 3 more turns.
Metroid Dread: I took a pause after reading about a bug that could ruin your progress but I can say I am so excited to be back playing this game. It’s a very stress inducing game though and I try not to play it before bed!
It’s a very stress inducing game
Pokémon Shining Pearl: Bridget is starting her first Pokémon adventure aside from Pokémon Go. We are going to be battling our way through the game and I’m excited to share with her the experience.
Slay the Spire: My nightly game to play before I fall asleep. What can I say that hasn’t been said before. It’s a great strategy game that I can put down at any time.
Storybook Brawl: As the OG player from SuperOK, I felt like I was being shown up now that Dale is top 1000. So I dusted off my Mother Goose knowledge and started climbing the ranks again.
Rider’s Republic: I am delighted and surprised by how much I enjoy this game. It’s a perfect extreme sports game with gorgeous environments to explore. Plus, the touch of open world goodies makes this game a must have for the collection.
Brodie:
Final Fantasy XIV: Still playing a lot. Making my way through post-Shadowbringers patch quests but making frequent detours to unlock new stuff. The amount of content in this game is truly staggering, especially considering they aren't just adding new dungeons, trials, or raids. Things like exploratory voyages and the Diadem for gathering are insane! Also, sorry to everyone who has heard me say this a million times, but the Shadowbringers content is beyond fantastic. Also, hoping to get caught up on raid content relatively soon. This game!

Halo Infinite: Old man Brodie has been hard struggling with this, but the quality here is undeniable (battle pass stuff notwithstanding). It definitely feels like playing an old Halo game and graphically is very slick. Looking forward to throwing some more hours at this pretty casually between other things.
Old man Brodie has been hard struggling with this
Into the Pit: Saw this on a20sidedninja's stream and found it on Game Pass, this game fucking rules. I love a good roguelike, and this one checks a lot of boxes for me. I would describe it as if Serious Sam and Quake were combined in the most grimdark setting with a bit of Hades (mechanically, not plot) sprinkled in. A lot of fun and very frantic. Get ready to run backwards while shooting a lot!
Dicey Dungeons: Downloaded this on a whim on Game Pass. Booted it up the other day literally saying to myself, "Let's try this so I can get it off my HDD," and found myself doing run after run. It's another roguelike with some very, very, cool "dice assignment" mechanics which remind me a lot of Roll Player Adventures (a board game I'm playing and loving currently). If you like puzzly board games and roguelikes, don't pass this one up. Plus, the music is great.
Riders Republic: Downloaded this after watching Cank Face. Still getting the hang of it, but I love the idea of an open world sports game like this. Like an hour in, but very much looking forward to playing more. It's wild to see all the other people playing on the map!
Dungeon Encounters: Lastly, still messing around with this on and off. It's undeniably unique and addictive (to someone who bores easily with JRPGs.) It's just really, really unforgiving at times, so you have to really pay attention to your party, building a pool of adventurers that can help if you get wiped, etc. Not sure I'll ever finish this one, but I sure will try!
Mel:
Am I the only one not playing Final Fantasy XIV?

Animal Crossing New Horizon: Yeah, yeah… I know. I’m STILL playing Animal Crossing. What can I say? I love how easy this game is to pick up and put down. My island is finally looking decent, I have over 6 million bells, I own the largest home I can get from that bastard, Tom Nook... So I would say that things are shaping up on my island! I initially put this game down before the first summer update and now there are so many things to do. The new Happy Home Paradise really scratches my itch to decorate new homes without having to completely renovate my own home. Diving for scallops and getting cute mermaid items has been fun to collect. Yeah, I’m still having a good time with this game.
Pokemon Shining Pearl: I beat my second gym and I got my bike so now I’m exploring new areas and catching different Pokemon. I’m sort of having a hard time playing this game. I hate to say it, but maybe, just maybe, I’m getting bored? I only say this because this is a game that I played the living CRAP out of as a kid and Pearl follows the typical Pokemon formula. Heck, I still remembered where the berries patches were located. I will say that I’m having a butt load of fun seeing Pearl in the 3D world and how the developers re-imagined the areas. So I guess I’m taking my time with this game to prevent burn out.
I hate to say it, but maybe, just maybe, I’m getting bored?
Slay the Spire: I started to play this game last week since it was on Game Pass and all of the guys raved about how great the game is. It is so much fun! I didn’t think I would be super into the game since it is a deck building game and that whole genre isn’t quite my thing. However, it does have roguelike aspects and that is my JAM. I’m not as invested as Clay, but I love that there is a natural progression to becoming better at the game and there is definitely a “one more run” feel to the game. I can understand why some people can’t stop playing it.

We Were Here: An interesting little free to play, two-person cooperative game where you and your partner get trapped in two different parts of a castle. Both players have to find clues and communicate well to solve some of the puzzles to get to your next room. It’s listed as a puzzle/horror/adventure on Steam, but the game is mildly horror at best. As you all know, I hate playing scary games, but I never felt creeped out. Because it was free to play there were some weird audio looping and unpolished textures. If you have a friend and like 2 hours to kill, it’s worth checking out. I think I want to buy the sequels just to support the devs.
Cookie Clicker: You can never have enough cookies.
Dale:

Final Fantasy XIV: Like almost everyone else, I too am playing Final Fantasy 14. I just finished the "A Realm Reborn" story, so I'm excited to see what's next. I've also started tanking, which feels so good, and is complicated in ways that are different from other games, so it's new and exciting.
Storybook Brawl: Hot damn do I love this game. It's a competitive auto-battler, like an auto-chess (kinda). It's a blast to play, and uses traditional fairytale characters in a new and exciting way. I’m currently on the hunt to break a 4000 rating (which will put me solidly in the top 800 players in the world). Based on that, I can tell you that you can only take Puff Puffs if you’re Trophy Hunter, and even then it’s dubious. This patch has changed a lot of stuff up, and I’m excited to see where this game goes. I'm afraid for when this goes to Mobile, since I'll probably never stop playing it.

Transformers Tactical Arena: Which leads me to the first Mobile game I'm playing, Transformers tactical arena. This is a transformers reskin of Clash Royale, but it's an Apple arcade game, so all the dumb Free to Play shit has been stripped out. If you have Apple arcade, you should try this, and if you don't have Apple arcade, you should get Apple arcade
Eternal TCG: This is a game I have been consistently playing on mobile for legit the past 5 years. I used to play A LOT of Magic: The Gathering, and this scratches that itch perfectly. It's also the most generous free to play game I've ever played. I've spent $50 total on this over the past half decade, and I only did that because I wanted to support the developers. I cannot recommend this game enough, especially if you've ever played Magic, since it was designed by professional Magic: the Gathering players.
Ring Fit Adventure: Shout out to MerrieMerrie on Twitch for getting me into this. This is the best fitness game I've ever played. I'm sweating, and my heart's racing, but I don't want to quit because the game is so fun. If you're looking to burn off all the burritos you've been housing, This is the best game to do it with.
I'm sweating, and my heart's racing, but I don't want to quit
Sushi Go Party: Just had my first playthrough of this upgrade to Sushi Go, and it's awesome how much this adds to the original. If you need a board game for up to 8, you could do way worse than this delightful card drafting game. Much like real sushi this game is so light and fun that it's hard to quit playing.
And that's it, dear reader! We'll see you next month, but in the meantime, make sure to tell us what you're playing in the comments below! And if you have recommendations for us to play, tell us in the discord!
